Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar recently announced that degree colleges will be established in every block of the state under the “Advanced Education – Bright Future” initiative. The project is expected to improve access to higher education for students in districts like Kishanganj, especially girls and rural students. The government also plans to develop selected institutions into “Centres of Excellence” with better infrastructure, modern academic facilities, and employment-oriented education. Officials said the initiative would help students continue higher studies closer to their hometowns and strengthen Bihar’s education system.

The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) recently released the first selection list for OFSS Bihar Class 11 admissions for the 2026–28 academic session. Thousands of students from Kishanganj and across Bihar have started the admission process into intermediate colleges and higher secondary schools. Students selected in the first merit list were instructed to complete admissions within the official deadline. The OFSS portal also introduced slide-up and choice modification options for students who wanted to upgrade their allotted institutions or apply again in later rounds.

Under the Saat Nishchay-3 program, the Bihar Government has announced plans to establish one model secondary school in every block of the state, including Kishanganj district. These schools will provide quality education along with preparation facilities for competitive exams like NEET, JEE, and Olympiads from secondary level onwards. The schools will include smart classrooms, modern science laboratories, libraries, career counseling support, and experienced teachers. Officials believe the initiative will reduce the educational gap between urban and rural students and provide better academic opportunities for students in districts like Kishanganj.

The Bihar Government has officially opened admissions for the newly established Minority Residential School in Kishanganj for the 2025–26 academic session. The institution will provide free education and residential facilities for students belonging to Muslim, Sikh, Christian, Buddhist, Jain, and Parsi communities. Applications have been invited for Class 9 and Class 11 students. The government has reserved 75% of seats for rural students and 50% for girls to promote inclusive education and equal learning opportunities. Officials stated that the school aims to improve access to quality education for economically weaker students and encourage higher participation in academics from minority communities.

A large School Readiness Fair 2026 was recently organized at Lahra Fulbari School in Kishanganj district with the support of Pratham Foundation and ICDS. The event focused on preparing children aged 4 to 6 years for formal schooling through fun-based learning activities, games, storytelling, mathematics exercises, and creative participation. Parents, teachers, Anganwadi workers, and community members actively participated in the educational program. Several activity stalls were set up to improve children’s language skills, logical thinking, color recognition, emotional development, and basic mathematics knowledge. District officials appreciated the initiative and said that such programs help children develop interest in education from an early age and strengthen foundational learning in rural areas.
